Katharine Pugin, 1841-1927

If you would like to contribute a short (no more than 800 words) biographical summary for this individual, please contact Catriona Blaker.
Some notes as we await a full biography...
Katharine Pugin was born at 3:30 a.m. on 28 November, 1841, according to Pugin's diary.  She married Dr Austin Meldon in 1871 and died in 1927.
Pugin's letters provide snippets of information about his family: On 20 December 1844 a three-year-old Katharine, whom her family called 'Patty', fell and 'broke her left leg dislocated her ankle & is a sad state.'  In an entry dated two days later, Pugin says that 'poor little Katharine has gone on surprisingly well since her sad accident & I am now in great hopes that she will eventually recover the use of her leg.  her general health does not seem to suffer & she has been wonderfully patient.'  However, Pugin also complains that 'everything falls on me now & interrupts me constantly in my own work.  I get nothing done.'
