APPENDIX VIII: BELL-COTE DESIGNS BY EW PUGIN, AND BY PUGIN & ASHLIN

Bell-cotes were projected for 39 realised churches/chapels, 35 of which were built as originally designed, two (at St Begh (Bee), Whitehaven and St Francis, Gorton) were built to modified designs, and two (at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Harwich and Stanbrook Abbey) were never built. The bell-cote designs fall into the following four categories, the entries in which are in chronological order.
